Oak Grove’s on-grounds school is certified by the State of California Department of Education Nonpublic Schools Division, as well as accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The school serves students from districts throughout California as a function of our residential program. The teaching staff is comprised of an excellent group of credentialed and experienced educators with expertise involving working with a diverse student body with a myriad of social, emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges. The school provides a continuum of services including self- contained classes as well as more traditional high school block scheduling instructional models. Program tracks include high school graduation and diploma, certificate of completion, GED, credit recovery, and vocational / transition. Additionally, we offer Designated Instructional Services (DIS) of Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy, as well as participation in community-based ROP, community college classes, and partial mainstreaming. We offer a variety of extracurricular activities including music, art, drama, public speaking, martial arts, varsity sports, Robotics Club, and an after school science camp operated in conjunction with the local Boys and Girls Club. Each student is assigned a primary licensed clinical therapist that acts as a Case Manager while providing individual, group, and family therapy, classroom support, and crisis intervention as needed.

Jack Weaver School, has the distinction of being selected as one of only 50 schools throughout the United States, and the only Special Education School, to participate as a Class of 2005 NASA Explorer School. The Explorer Schools Program is sponsored by NASA’s Education Office in collaboration with the National Science Teachers Association. Each year the program establishes a three-year partnership between NASA and 50 Explorer schools to enrich learning across the nation, especially in the areas of math, science, technology, engineering, and geography. Although our initial three year term is over, we remain an active affiliate of the program, allowing our students to continue to benefit from NASA materials and school-based programs. Through a grant provided by NASA, our students started a Robotics Club and have participated in annual competitions held at Pasadena’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where we have taken two second place and one third-place finish.
